Senseverse

Overview

The SENSE project will create interconnected 3D digital twins to boost citizen engagement and foster a sense of urban belonging. Led by Frontrunner Cities (Kiel, DE; and Cartagena, ES) and supported by Follower Cities across Europe (Arezzo, IT; Valongo, PT; Murcia, ES; Thessaloniki, GR), the project will implement four real-world use cases, serving as a crucial step toward the deployment of the CitiVerse.

Kiel, Germany

Civic Engagement Through Immersive Digital Experiences

The Kiel pilot brings the city’s relationship with the sea to life online, extending the physical SEALEVEL exhibition into an interactive 3D digital experience of the Kiel Fjord and waterfront, and exploring the city’s maritime history and heritage through Kiel Hidden World. Residents, visitors and educational audiences engage with curated content — from marine and climate topics to historical storytelling — building environmental awareness and a stronger sense of place, before, during or after a physical visit.

Cartagena, Spain

Driving Sustainability Through Smart Innovation

The Cartagena pilot harnesses 3D digital twin technology, citizen participation, and real-time data to support sustainable urban development. By enhancing city planning, promoting green mobility, and engaging SMEs, it fosters low-cost, scalable solutions that strengthen environmental policy, interoperability, and economic growth.
